Radio Techniques

Radio is an entirely different medium and must be handled accordingly. Interviews are usually done over the phone and not in the presence of a host. Unlike TV, radio interviews do not provide the benefit of a book graphic or a company website address displayed under the guest’s name. Hosts often inadvertently fail to plug their book or company; guests often over‐plug their book or company. Guests must be able to effectively answer questions and find creative ways to weave into the conversation without offering “shameless plugs.”

Training will include:

In person and over the phone interviews with several different scenarios including:

  • Host who does not plug the book or your background
  • Host who is challenging or attempting “shock” value
  • Responding to live callers
  • In studio simulation
